Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 1021: The Child Is Healthy

Orion Woodwind abruptly raised his head. "I don't believe you can shatter the Jade Armour."

Tina arched an eyebrow. "The fragments of the Jade Armour are right here in my hand. Do you want to see them for yourself?"

A flicker of hesitation crossed Orion Woodwind's gaze, but he quickly asked, "Where is she?"

Tina, of course, knew who he meant.

She let out a cold laugh, her sharp black-and-white eyes filled with icy ruthlessness. "If she isn't dead, she's probably hiding in some remote mountain forest, nursing her injuries. But without a suitable heart to aid her recovery, she might resort to eating the hearts of animals-or perhaps she wouldn't be so picky."

Orion Woodwind frowned, his voice cold. "That's impossible!"

Tina's tone turned soft and eerie. "If you could attack the Havenhart family to keep your secrets hidden, why wouldn't I strike at someone who's trying to take my life?"

"You!"

Orion Woodwind's eyes widened, his expression betraying his shock. "You've investigated the Havenhart family?"

This was exactly the reaction Tina had been aiming for. "If I'm not mistaken, Kellan Havenhart must have discovered the true purpose of your Swanson family's construction. That's why he met his demise. The so-called illness that consumed him wasn't anything more than a cover for the poison you used."

Realizing he had let his emotions slip, Orion Woodwind fell silent.

Still, his heart was far from calm. He hadn't expected Tina to investigate him so thoroughly.

Having achieved her purpose, Tina didn't linger. She walked out of the room without another word.

Outside the door, Jayden was waiting.

Tina gave him a simple instruction, "Keep an eye on him. Don't let even the smallest movement escape your notice."

She then turned and entered the adjacent secret room, where Jared stood, staring at a monitor.

On the large electronic screen mounted on the wall, Orion Woodwind's figure was displayed.

Hearing her footsteps, Jared turned around. "It's as you suspected. The equipment only reacts when Orion Woodwind hears the names 'Havenhart family' or 'Poppy.""

Tina's cold eyes narrowed slightly.

The bait had been cast. Whether or not it would lure Claudia out depended on how important the Swanson family's secrets were to her.

Jared handed the equipment to the staff, then draped his coat over Tina's shoulders. "It's damp and cold here. You shouldn't stay too long. Let's go back."

Feeling the warmth from her uncle's coat, Tina nodded and followed him out.

On the way back, Tina suddenly caught a whiff of a fragrant scent that made her stomach feel unbearably empty.

"Nathan, stop the car!"

Nathan was startled and slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a halt by the roadside. Thankfully, the distance between vehicles was sufficient, avoiding any accidents. Otherwise, Jared would have flayed him alive.

"Ma'am, what's wrong..."

Jared also looked alarmed, gripping Tina's hand tightly. "Tina, are you feeling unwell?" Tina clutched her stomach. "I'm hungry!"

Jared froze for a moment, then glanced outside at the street filled with food vendors. He couldn't help but laugh. "What do you feel like eating?"

Tina thought for a moment, recalling the enticing aroma. "Something sour."

"Sour?" Jared's lips curled into a smile. "Looks like the dream I had about having a daughter might not be so far off."

Tina immediately caught on and rolled her eyes. "Don't believe in such nonsense."

When the car stopped, the scent outside became even more vivid. Following her nose, Tina pulled Jared along until they arrived in front of a small restaurant tucked in a corner alley.

This was it-the source of the smell.

Jared personally inspected the kitchen to ensure it was clean enough. The exterior may have been rundown, but the interior was surprisingly tidy, with only a few simple tables.

Jared ordered one of each dish that looked decent.

When the food arrived, Tina stared at the table in surprise. "Are you sure we can finish all this?"

Jared calmly served her a piece of tender fish. "Don't worry. If we can't finish, Nathan can have the leftovers. He loves spicy and sour flavors."

Tina let out an "oh" and started eating without hesitation.

By the time they were ready to leave, Jared packed up the untouched portions and handed the containers to Nathan from the driver's seat. "We barely touched these. Take them home and reheat them."

Nathan was stunned. "Jared, these are for me?"

Tina added, "Uncle said you like spicy and sour food. Everything here is packed with flavor."

"

Nathan's mouth twitched. When had he ever expressed a preference for spicy and sour food?

Still, if Jared said so, there must be a reason.

Perhaps it was the food or the warmth of the car, but Tina soon felt drowsy. Leaning against Jared, she fell into a deep and peaceful sleep.

About half an hour later, the car arrived at the villa. Nathan was about to speak when Jared silenced him with a look.

Carefully, Jared tightened his hold on Tina, opened the car door with one hand, and carried her all the way to the bedroom.

As he laid her down on the bed, Tina instinctively grabbed his hand. "Uncle, don't go. Stay with me for a while."

Jared rarely saw her this soft and vulnerable. He smiled and replied quietly, "Alright." That night, Tina slept deeply and soundly.

The next day, around noon, Jared took Tina to the hospital for a check-up.

The hospital belonged to the Farrell family, and Jared stayed with her the entire time.

Standing by the ultrasound machine, Jared exuded an invisible pressure that filled the entire room.

The doctor's hands trembled as she worked, terrified of making a mistake and offending the powerful man standing behind her.

Tina felt both amused and helpless. Since entering the room, Jared's tension had only grown more palpable.

She sighed and reassured the doctor, "Just do your job. Ignore him."

The doctor forced a stiff smile. She wanted to ignore him, but she didn't dare.

Tina: "..."

Startled, the doctor pointed to a small dot on the screen. "This... this is the baby. The embryo is developing well."

Jared stared at the screen, his gaze locking onto a specific point. "Is that the heartbeat?"noveldrama

The doctor nodded.

"Can we hear it?"

The doctor quickly adjusted the equipment.

At first, the sound of the heartbeat was irregular and chaotic but soon steadied into a rhythmic thumping.

Both Jared and Tina were mesmerized. The strong, steady heartbeat filled the room with an indescribable sense of wonder.

The baby was healthy.

Afterward, Tina shooed Jared out of the room. If he kept asking questions, they wouldn't get anything else done today.

When the results were ready, Jared went to the doctor's office for a detailed discussion.

Tina sat outside, waiting patiently.

As a doctor herself, she didn't need to see the reports to know what they meant. But Jared was overly cautious and insisted on going over every detail.

She let him be.

While waiting, Hayden called.

He informed her that the hotel was booked and the engagement party was scheduled

for the day after tomorrow. Their master and brothers had already been notified.

As for the invitations for her and Jared, they wouldn't bother sending them-they just wanted to remind the two to attend.

Tina: "..."

Being reminded three times in as many days, anyone would think she and Jared were the ones getting engaged.

"Got it," Tina replied. Just as she was about to hang up, Hayden added, "Oh, by the way, I've prepared matching outfits for you and Master. They've already been delivered to your house. Don't forget to wear them tomorrow!"
