Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 898

Chapter 898:

The ground trembled violently as dust and heat exploded in all directions. In an instant, a black mushroom cloud rose high above the building.

Everyone had moved to a safe distance, but the thick dust still made it hard to breathe. Allison coughed fiercely, her vision blurred by the heavy smoke.

Through the chaos, she could hear slow, heavy footsteps drawing near. As the dust started to clear, a man’s face emerged in the moonlight. Verruckt’s crimson eyes glowed with rage, his gaze cutting right through the smoke.

“Alice, you betrayed me,” he said, his voice calm but filled with accusation. Even without the disguise, her unmistakable face stood out. This was Alice.

The rage inside Verruckt burned like wildfire, threatening to consume him whole. He spoke again, his voice sharp and deliberate. “Why?” Behind him, Jareth stood frozen, his face filled with disbelief.

“How is this possible?” Jareth whispered, struggling to process what he was seeing.

It was clear now — this woman was Alice. The memory of the explosion in the break room hit him suddenly, along with the mention of a female assassin. All the pieces of the puzzle fell into place — Alice had been deceiving them from the start.

“Mr. Shaw, it’s good to see you again,” Allison said, stepping into the light with a cold, unwavering gaze. Her face had shed the timid look it once wore. It was now hard, calculating.

“Why did I betray you? Simple — I was never Alice to begin with.”

So, it hadn’t been betrayal after all. Her plan had been carefully thought out from the very beginning.

Allison’s gaze shifted to the men standing behind Verruckt. His men, dressed in blood-soaked suits, bore the signs of a brutal fight on the cruise ship.

“The test subjects and researchers are under my control now, and the lab is nothing but rubble,” she said calmly. She met Verruckt’s gaze directly. “The military will be here soon. Your men won’t stand a chance against their firepower.”

Her words were clear and blunt, but Verruckt only chuckled softly.

“Alice, you always manage to surprise me,” he said, his voice oozing with sarcasm.noveldrama

From the very beginning, her plan had been to strike a fatal blow today. All the time they had spent together — what had it all meant? Had he truly been so blind to it all?

Verruckt had never imagined that a woman could be the cause of his downfall.

At that moment, the building lay in complete ruins. “Mr. Shaw, the mayor is handling Kylo, and now this place is gone. The military will be here soon, and things aren’t looking good for us,” Jareth said, his voice shaky as he nervously glanced at Verruckt.

The rest of his words weren’t needed — they both knew how serious things had become. It was obvious that they had been set up.

From the time Verruckt had left at two that afternoon, until now, under the light of the moon, the research institute building had been reduced to rubble. Someone had carefully planned this attack.
