Chapter 1077
Shopping at the supermarket is always better with two people. Anya wandered through every aisle, checking out pots and pans, and admiring the cute dishes and silverware. Her mind was already painting a picture of their future life together.
They packed their cart full of veggies and spices, having covered every corner of the store. Leo, carrying the heavy bags, playfully insisted, "You just hold the car keys, okay? Make sure the car's locked." Anya tugged on the car door, "Locked up tight, Chad."
Leo offered his arm to Anya, and together they strolled back home from the parking lot. Upon entering, they were greeted by a bunch of beer bottles on the table, which immediately made Leo feel a bit queasy. Leo's roommates gathered around as he arrived. "Leo, Tony got these for a drink-up tonight. Any news from him?" one asked.
Soon after, Tony emerged, setting some snacks on the table. "Leo, you in for drinks tonight?"
Leo laid the veggies on the table as Anya neatly stored everything in the fridge. "Last night knocked me out cold, and my girl had to look after me. Can't go overboard today. Plus, my 'housekeeper' here wouldn't approve," he chuckled.
Anya, hiding behind the fridge door, made a playful face, getting teased again.
"Tony, anything new?" asked a roommate.
Leo pulled up a chair, looking at them all, "Did things not go as planned?"
Anya sat quietly beside him, out of the loop about the current drama.
Tony cracked open a few bottles, downing one swiftly. "I had to say no. They wanted me to trick Leo into signing a contract with a massive penalty.I knew right away it would leave Leo in a bind if he backed out. And if it went to court, they'd walk free, and I'd be left taking the hit."
Tony let out a bitter laugh, which quickly turned into tears, "Thought I'd hit the jackpot. Last year, I was told I'd meet someone influential this year. I thought it was them.. but guess not...” Overwhelmed, he broke down, resting his head on the table.
His friends tried to console him, "Tony, don't sweat it. They're not worth it. We'll find another opportunity, no need to stick with them."
Leo looked thoughtful and Anya stayed quiet, not fully understanding the situation. She had been busy with family matters and hadn't been keeping up with her boyfriend's world.
Curious, she asked, "Tony, why do you love acting so much?"
Tony lifted his head, "I love stepping into different characters, living their lives. But now, I'm just an extra, feeling the grind of the underdog." He took another sip.
"Did you look into their company?" Leo suddenly asked. "148 lawsuits, 210 legal disputes, and administrative penalties. Were you aware of that?
Plus, they don't nurture individual talent. No one has standout roles; everything's done as a team. No artist has ever starred in a TV show. The longest any group lasted was three years before they called it quits. Ever wonder why?"noveldrama
The roommates nodded, "Yeah, Leo
might be younger, but he's thorough. His points make sense. With all those lawsuits, penalties, and an inability to keep talent, they're just using newcomers and draining them dry You want to act, but goals don't match yours. Better avoid
them altogether."
What do you think?
