Chapter 599
Rosie's straightforward answer made Noelle smile. "Alright. Let's go home, then."
With that, they walked away hand in hand, as if the noise and excitement behind them seemed to have nothing to do with them.
The next day, Hendrix came again. This time, he wasn't alone, as several bodyguards followed him, each carrying heavy bags.
Without Hendrix even saying a word, all the children rushed over. Even kids from neighboring apartments had heard about it and came running.
Hendrix didn't discriminate any child who approached was given a gift. Today, he didn't need to interact with them personally, so he had time to glance over at Noelle to gauge her reaction.
However, he quickly realized that Noelle and Rosie were no longer there. He hadn't even noticed when they had left.
The same thing happened on the third and fourth days, but by the fifth day, Hendrix didn't show up.
But after several days of free gifts, both the children and their parents had gotten a taste for it. Now, they would gather early in the apartment complex, the kids chattering noisily as they waited.
During this time, Noelle and Rosie hadn't been playing at the apartment complex. At the moment, Noelle was getting ready to head to the nearby children's park with Rosie in tow.
Somehow, the neighbors had figured out her connection to Hendrix. So, when they saw Noelle, they immediately greeted her and even asked when Hendrix would arrive.
Noelle forced a smile. "I don't know."
"How can you not know when he's your husband?"
"We're divorced."
"Tsk! You two don't act like you're divorced. And really, what could be so
unforgivable about someone as great as Mr. Freeman?"noveldrama
"Exactly! When is Mr. Freeman moving into our apartment complex? It would be
an absolute honor for us to have a neighbor like him."
Noelle suddenly stopped walking,
and after taking a deep breath, she replied really don't know. We're
already divorced, so what he does now is none of my business, nor do I have any say in it."
As she spoke, her expression darkened. Seeing this, the others immediately went quiet.
With that, Noelle walked out of the apartment complex with Rosie.
On the surface, it might seem like
nothing had happened, but Noelle knew that their peaceful life had been disrupted. They hadn't been at the children's park for long when her phone buzzed with countless messages from the apartment complex group chat.
People were tagging her, asking when Hendrix would come. Others asked if he wasn't coming today. Some complained that they'd been waiting since 7:00 am-over three hours and accused him of playing games with them. A few even sent angry voice messages.
Noelle glanced at her phone before turning off the screen.
Rosie turned around and asked her curiously, "Mommy, what's wrong?"
Noelle smiled at her and said, "It's nothing. What do you want for lunch?"
"Aren't we going home to eat?"
"Not today. Let's eat out, okay? What would you like?"
"Can I have a hamburger?" Rosie asked timidly, as if she expected Noelle to say
no.
But the next moment, Noelle nodded without hesitation and said, "Sure."
What do you think?
