Chapter 779
Chapter 779
"If you really want to thank me, you can bring me to the competition with you," said Hera.noveldrama
What really caught her attention was that she could gain lots of knowledge if she went to the national robotics competition.
But only the contestants were allowed to enter the competition site. She wanted to tag along and see if she could slip into the venue.
Jeremy was on the same page as Hera. She had helped them at such a critical moment, so he saw her as a part of the team already.
"Sure," he said.
The venue was in Jedburgh. Hera got in their car and headed to the venue together with the rest of the team. When they arrived, Sonny led Jeremy and the others into the site to get things ready for the competition.
Meanwhile, Hera wandered around the site and learned quite a few things in her field of interest.
As she walked around, her phone rang. Seeing that it was Xavier, she answered the call. "Hera, where are you now? Can we meet?" Xavier asked.
He seldom asked to see her. It could only mean that something important had come up. Hera sent him her location. When he almost arrived, she reluctantly left the competition site and headed to a coffee shop nearby, where they said they would meet.
Xavier wore a baseball cap and a mask. But even with this disguise, he stood out like a sore thumb in the crowd because of his height.
Two young women in school uniforms stood at the door, blocking his path. They stopped him to get his number.
"Hey, handsome," they said. "What's your Twitter username? Wanna be friends?"
It was the first time Xavier got into a situation like this. To be honest, he felt rather awkward. "No thanks. I don't have a Twitter account."
"Everyone uses Twitter these days," one of the young women snapped, annoyed. "You could've just outright refused us. You didn't have to come up with such a lame excuse." Hera's cold, indifferent voice rang from behind the two young women. "Why are you so persistent when you know he doesn't want to befriend you?"
"Who the heck are you?" The two young women turned to see Hera, in all her stunning beauty, staring at them as she approached them. She gave off a cool air of elegance as she strode to them.
"You're here," said Xavier when he saw Hera. He scurried over to her.
Assuming that Xavier and Hera were a couple, the young women hastened their footsteps and left the coffee shop.
"It seems like you're quite popular with women," Hera commented teasingly, watching the two young women flee.
Xavier was exasperated. "Stop teasing me. Thank goodness you came. I didn't know how to react in a situation like that."
He then adjusted his cap, and the two of them entered the coffee shop. They found a spot in the corner and ordered some coffee.
"What happened?" Hera went straight to the point.
Xavier stirred his coffee with a spoon and answered, "I wanted to see you one last time before I leave."
Hera frowned. "Huh? Where are you going?"
"Anywhere." Xavier's answer was curt. "Anywhere will be fine as long as it isn't the Killian residence."
He looked up and out the window at the clear sky. The Killians had caused him too much misery. He might actually go crazy if he stayed in the Killian residence any longer.
"Go ahead, then. It's a big world. You should see it for yourself." Hera handed him a card.
Xavier pushed the card away. "What are you doing?"
"Take it." Hera didn't put the card back in her bag. "You're going to become a wanderer. How else do you expect yourself to live like that?"
The Killians had no idea that Xavier had merely been pretending to be a fool all these years. How could she not worry about him now that he wanted to leave the residence?
If he didn't want the Killians to find out about this, he had to be inconspicuous and unobtrusive at all times.
For the past 20 years, he was simply known as a fool in the eyes of the Killians. Despite that, he didn't have to worry about food and shelter.
He wanted to leave the Killian residence, but he might not have the skills needed to survive in the harsh world out there.
Xavier fell silent as he contemplated her words.
A moment later, he told her, "I can do it!" His resolve was firm. He would have to make it no matter how hard life would get.
Hera and Xavier chatted for a while. Before they left the coffee shop, Xavier unlocked his phone and said, "This is my Twitter account. Let me add you."
"I thought you didn't have a Twitter account," Hera teased.
Xavier fell silent. In fact, he had just created the account not long ago.
The clinic was closed for the day, but Wayne woke up early in the morning. After telling Catherine that he was heading out, he turned on the navigation screen and drove to the black market.
He wanted to look for Everly. He simply had to know what she was trying to do!
In the black market slums, Everly set off to look for Wayne after a day's rest. The doors were shut when she arrived at Youngworth Miracle Clinic. After thinking about it for a while, she turned and headed for the residential area.
What do you think?
