Pearl considered this and squeezed his hand to reassure him. "Don't worry, I don't think he'll hurt me, but you should stay alert."

Pearl quickly headed out and as she opened the door, there was Luther, smiling as always. "I know you very well, don't I?"

A chill ran down Pearl's spine. "Say what you need to."

To keep Richard from getting upset, she gently closed the door behind her.

"What? You don't want him to overhear us?" Luther noticed her action.

"I just don't want to disturb the patient."

Luther didn't seem to care. "Patient or lover?"

Pearl looked upset. "What are you implying, Luther?"

"Why are you upset? The Pearl I knew never got upset easily. You never got mad at me," Luther said, as if thinking back on old times.

Pearl interrupted him. "Enough. You know I'm not up for games."

"That's right, your child is missing. No mother would be calm in your place," Luther said, getting to the point.

Pearl raised her eyebrows. "What do you mean? Do you know where he is?"

"I might," Luther smirked. "Didn't I tell you there's nothing in this world I don't know?"

Pearl lowered her voice. "Can you tell me where my son is?"

Luther shrugged, pretending ignorance. "I only have a vague idea. I'm not a psychic. How would I know his exact location?"

Pearl's patience was wearing thin. "Luther! You were like an uncle to Darius. Are you really going to hurt him?"

When she said that, Luther's expression changed ever so slightly.
