Chapter 425
The doctor's voice could be heard faintly from the open door of the emergency room. "Administer the antagonist. 1000ml of saline. Rapid infusion. Increase the oxygen flow rate."
"Chief surgeon, the patient is in cardiac arrest. There's no pulse,"
the assistant reported.
"Prepare for defibrillation! Where's the blood test result? Get the laboratory department to hurry up! Adjust the defibrillation dosage. Everyone, clear back!" ordered the chief surgeon.
Sienna's heart pounded as she heard that. Her face turned pale. 'Is it Conner?' she wondered She walked to the nurse who was looking for the patient's family.
"Excuse me. I..."
"Sienna." Cedric grabbed her arm from behind. "Wait."
A nurse pushed an emergency bed out of another room. She glanced at the medical record card in her hand. "Is Conner Fischer's family here?"
Sienna froze. 'Fortunately, it isn't Conner...' she thought.
She hurriedly turned around and responded, "Yes. I'm his sister."
"The patient is in stable condition. There are residual sedatives and hypnotics in his body, and he has been given an infusion to accelerate drug metabolism," said the nurse.
She then added, "He's a hematology department donor. The doctor from the hematology department came to see him just now. He can go directly back to the inpatient department."
"Okay. Thank you." Sienna looked down at Conner, who was sleeping. Tears welled up in her eyes.
She had been so tense recently. At that moment, she could finally relax.
Every minute and second of the past two days had been torture for her. Fortunately, everything was fine.
After that, Conner was then transferred back to the inpatient department of the hematology department.
On the way back to the inpatient building, he woke up.
"Sienna..." Conner opened his eyes with struggle. His throat was so dry. "Am I. dreaming?"
"You're awake." Sienna's eyes turned red. She held his hand. "It's not a dream, it's me. We're at the hospital."
Conner frowned.
His last memory was running out of the cabin. He couldn't hold on as he made his way down the mountain.
"Sienna..." Conner said in a hoarse voice, "I'm sorry for making you worry."
"Don't be silly." Sienna choked slightly, "You were drugged and still worried about Joyce. Thank goodness you're alright now."
If anything had happened to Conner, she would never be able to repay him, not in this lifetime.
"Don't talk. Just rest," said Sienna.
"Okay." Conner nodded and closed his eyes.
The medication hadn't worn off completely, so he fell asleep soon after.
Sienna then returned to the inpatient building and settled in.
Just as she came out of the inpatient building, Cedric was waiting for her at the door.
She smiled at him. "Thanks for everything."
He had not slept all night because of her.
"Go back and get some rest," said Sienna.
"Sienna..." Cedric stared at her and interrupted her abruptly.
"Yes?" Sienna was slightly perplexed Cedric frowned slightly. His thin lips pursed,
as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Do you have something to tell me?" Sienna laughed in confusion.
"Why does it seem so difficult to tell?"
She was just joking, but Cedric's expression became even more serious.
Sienna stopped smiling. "What's the matter?"
"Sienna..." Cedric parted his lips slightly, struggling to speak. "Just now, in the emergency room of the emergency department, the person they were resuscitating..."
He paused.
Sienna was puzzled. "What about that person?"
"He.." Cedric looked down, took a deep breath, and finally said, "It was Josiah."
Sienna was shocked.
She froze for a moment and did not quite react. "J-Josiah..."
"Yes," said Cedric.
Now that he had started, the rest came more easily.
Cedric nodded. "I don't know exactly what happened, but when I arrived at Pinkine Town, I saw Conner being carried down from the mountain."
He quickly and concisely described what had happened.
Then, he continued, "I'm not sure how Josiah related to the Evans family, but I think Josiah found Conner, and his injury is probably related to Conner..."
Cedric's gaze was fixed at Sienna's face.
She was expressionless.
"Sienna." Cedric frowned. A hint of confusion in his voice as he asked, "Did you hear what I said?"
"Yes." Sienna raised an eyebrow. Her lips curved slightly as she nodded. "Yes. I heard that."
Her voice was soft, and her tone was calm.
Cedric didn't understand her reaction. Josiah was injured because of Conner, and
he did that because of her. He thought she would be touched.
'Perhaps Sienna truly had no feelings for Josiah anymore, he mused.
Cedric shook his head. After all, the untold truth made him suffocated.
That day, he had to tell her everything.
"Also..." Cedric continued, "Regarding the false accusation Reyna had made on you a few days ago, the reason why you were cleared so quickly was because..."
He recounted the conversation
between Josiah and Gilbert that he had overheard in the inpatient. building that day, revealing
everything to her, leaving nothing
out
His Adam's apple bobbed as he said, "It was Josiah's idea that eyewitnesses don't
exist..."
Sienna's eyes widened in shock. Her lips slightly parted as she remained speechless.
'So, that was what happened...' she thought to herself.
"Sienna." Cedric frowned and apologized, "I'm sorry. I knew about it but chose to
keep it from you. I'm sorry that I'm only telling you now."
That was ungentlemanly of him.
However, he was just an ordinary man who would be selfish s o metimes.
Deep down, he didn't want Sienna to have anything to do with Josiah again.
Nevertheless, his conscience got the better of him.
On top of that, Josiah was still being rescued in the emergency room of the emergency department. He had even been stated a critical condition by the doctor.
Cedric let out a long sigh of relief. Finally, he had said it out.
"Sienna, Josiah... has done a lot for you."
"Yea..." Sienna's expression remained indifferent. With a faint smile, she nodded
slightly.
"I got it," she replied softly. "Thank you for telling me."
"And." Cedric looked at her, finding her reaction too calm. "Aren't you going to see
him?"
"You must have worn out these past two days Sienna said, ignoring his question with a faint smile.
"Everything is fine now. I'm going
back to Joyce. You should also head
back and rest."
en
"Sienna..." Cedric couldn't decipher her thoughts. After a moment of silence, henoveldrama
nodded. "Okay. I'll be on my way."
"Okay. Take care and drive safely," said Sienna.
"Sure," replied Cedric.
As soon as Cedric left, the faint smile on Sienna's face quickly disappeared.
'Josiah is injured severely... herself.
Should I go and visit him?' she asked Sienna clenched her fist before she turned
to push open the door to the inpatient building and entered.
She pondered, What can I do about it? I'm not a doctor. No... I'm not going.'
*****
Andy rushed to the emergency department and slapped Ethan.
"You're useless!"
Ethan, who was slapped, looked down and did not say a word.
"Tell me." Andy couldn't suppress his anger. "What happened?"
Ethan explained the whole story in detail.
Scorn and cruelty flashed across Andy's face after he heard the details. "Sienna
again? A true femme fatale. Where is she?"
What do you think?
