Chapter 890
Chapter 890:
“Should we take the test subjects?”
“Take what? Can we even catch them?”
“Of course, we need the test subjects. If we don’t, we’ll be hunted down!”
The researchers rushed around, disoriented and frantic. But one thing was clear: they had no choice but to follow the orders.
At that moment, Allison reached the door where the test subjects were kept.
The researchers could only take a few with them, leaving behind a batch that had been under Jareth’s care. With both him and Verruckt gone, she had to evacuate the remaining test subjects.noveldrama
Just then, Kellan’s team arrived, right on time.
“Ms. Clarke, Mr. Lloyd sent us to find you.”
Allison let out a sigh of relief. “Follow me.”
She saw that the door lock was still set to prevent outsider access, so she quickly used Verruckt’s fingerprint again.
But the lock beeped twice. “Password incorrect, access denied.”
Allison’s brow furrowed, a growing sense of unease washing over her.
Almost at the same time, before she could do anything, red laser beams shot out from the door lock.
Zing zing zing!
Allison moved fast, but the lasers still hit one of the men in black standing behind her.
She heard a sharp gasp followed by the sickening sound of the laser cutting through his clothes and skin, leaving a horrific wound.
“Get back!” Allison yelled, pushing the man away from her.
She muttered a curse under her breath.
It seemed that, in an emergency, this password was useless.
Allison swiftly pressed another fingerprint onto the lock, her movements as precise as a surgeon’s scalpel.
Everyone held their breath, hearts pounding like war drums, knowing that the very thread of their lives dangled precariously in the balance.
With a resounding bang, the laser warning system deactivated, and the laboratory door swung open like the gates of a fortress surrendering.
“Ms. Clarke, what just happened?” asked the wounded man in black, clutching his side as sweat rolled down his face like beads on a broken necklace.
“It might have been some unique protocol that rendered the previous fingerprint useless,” Allison replied evenly, passing him a small jar of medicinal balm.
“We don’t have the luxury of time. We need to leave now.” Her gaze flickered to the fingerprint code she had used.
It wasn’t Verruckt’s.
