Chapter 891
Chapter 891:
No, this belonged to the filthy figure Rowan she had encountered on her first day at the institute. Luckily, she had the foresight not to discard it.
Once inside the lab, they swiftly assessed the remaining test subjects.
“Ms. Clarke, there are five test subjects here,” one of the men reported, his voice tinged with urgency.
Allison gave a sharp nod. “Most of them were already moved in batches. These remaining ones must still be under the researchers’ watch.” Her tone was cold as steel. “Take them all.”
“Understood,” the man replied.
Suddenly, footsteps resounded from the corridor outside, growing louder with each passing moment. The door creaked open, and a sharp voice cut through the tension.
“What on earth do you think you’re doing?” It was Lena, her expression a mixture of fury and disbelief as she stepped into the room.
“You conniving little snake! How did you get in here?” she demanded, her words slicing through the air like a whip.
Allison instinctively put on an air of innocence, her face a mask of calm. “I heard the announcement about relocating the test subjects,” she said smoothly. “I contacted Mr. Williamson and used the access code he provided to enter.”
“Rubbish! This system works with fingerprints alone!” Lena’s eyes narrowed into slits, her suspicion palpable. Then, with a bitter laugh, she sneered, “Alice, I always knew you were a fountain of lies. When the boss returns, I’ll make sure he knows every sordid detail of what you’ve done here!”
Her words carried venom, but her actions spoke louder — she was already planning to review the surveillance footage once it was restored. Lena turned to the men in black standing behind Allison. “You guys, unlock everything and take all the test subjects, now!” she ordered, assuming that they were the bodyguards of this research institute.noveldrama
Allison played along, nodding with feigned innocence. “Yes, we need to act quickly to secure the test subjects.” The men in black, following Allison’s cue, opened the necessary locks.
Allison tilted her head at Lena, her voice calm yet curious. “Why did you come back?”
Lena scoffed, her disdain clear. “I refuse to waste my time babysitting those fools on the first basement. Their lives aren’t worth as much as these subjects. When Mr. Shaw returns, he’ll need someone capable at his side,” she added, her ambition as glaring as the fluorescent lights overhead.
Allison’s voice turned icy. “Your loyalty is… admirable.”
“Of course! Unlike you, who’s utterly useless,” Lena snapped, her patience wearing thin.
Just as the test subjects were being secured, a deafening alarm pierced the air. The walls seemed to hum as the Meteor System roared to life, its lasers crisscrossing like a web of fiery death. Lena’s face drained of color. “No! Not the Meteor System!”
